Update: 12/21/05

Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'oon

At a Wednesday morning press conference, the family of Dr. Zehra Attari thanked everyone for their support during the investigation.

“It was 43 of the most awful days, not knowing where your mother is,” said Attari’s daughter, Ruby, during the press conference.

“They positively identified the body as that of Dr. Attari,” stated family spokesman Ed Vasquez.

Dr. Attari worked with low income children and residents of East Oakland.

"I would say that if I had any wish that would come from this tragedy, it would be that someone will carry on her work in the community in Oakland, with children. She was a real humanitarian in what she was doing.” - Susan Heeley, Alameda.

  • Salaam. I know that it is discouraging and disheartning not to find any news, or updates regarding this case. However, I just want to say that although it is true that time heals everything, we must not give up hope until we find closure. We have to keep trying, in whatever way we are capable of, to find the truth of what happened to Dr. Attari.

  • I'm not there but wish I were, I feel sure this is a crime of monetary problems...someone desperate and in need, someone whom knew her in person or by reputation in the community, possibly someone related to one of her patients. Someone possibly drug addicted or alcohol addicted with links to crime. Someone who could find a way to sell and pawn and hide her car and person and belongings easily. Unfortunately there are a lot of those people in every community worldwide. She is in my prayers and I hope a resolution is found soon.
