a short poem i wrote in south africa

______________________________________
Sometimes the valves of my heart

open and close like sea plants

And in this spot I long to dig

A well as mysterious as zam zam

Show me the meaning of empty

Beyond a mere splintered heart

The empty that comes

From burning down this wall

Between lover and beloved

And if I ever become a shell

Smash it to pieces

In the beauty that knows no other beauty

  • You know, there's a nice sufi journal that has a call for submissions out-- why don't you submit some poems?

  • Thanks so much! Which sufi journal is this? I know the Ovessis have one but I'm not sure how to submit. I'll look into the Arab cultural one too. Salams...Azeem
